new films y'all - cinema etc
has anyone seen anything half decent recently?
think i might go and watch i'm not there but it seems to have had quite mixed reviews, how dylanesque does cate blanchett look?
paranoid park looks pretty good too and juno, although i'm worried it might suffer from pre release indie over-hype.
Stay out super late tonight

I'm seeing I'm Not There soon, probably Monday so I'll let you know.
Last film I saw at the cinema: Alvin and the Chipmunks
Brilliantly awful, you can play a drinking game too- everytime you see a look of self-disgust on Jason Lee or David Cross' face take a swig.
You'll be drunk in no time!
"ALVIN!"
I often go to sleep with pyjama bottoms, socks and a t-shirt on. When I awake I am naked. This is a popular phenomenon, known in scientific circles as
theft. My family members steal my clothes in the night and sell them down the market. I often walk to work and see kids wearing the clothes that only
the night before I was sleeping in. It is a disturbing development.

I hadn't been to the cinema for at least 18months until this week. I have been to see both The Golden Compass and I am Legend.
I thought both of them were crap.
oh and i watched The Darjeeling Ltd on the plane the other week and it was brilliant. I was embarrassing myself by giggling loudly whilst everyone
else was having that stupid kind of 'quiet time' that they impose on you.

I was going to go to the cinema last week but couldn't find anything worthwhile watching. I might go and see I'm Not There...
To be fair Duncan, I Am Legend looks appalling!

Oh yeah, I saw I am legend the other day actually. Starts out well but goes to shit when they start going on about God and miracles. The stuff with an
isolated Will Smith was pretty good- they should have kept the book's ending, much better- though apparently it had a different ending
originally, shitty test audiences didn't like it though.

you're absolutely right Paul, but I have a 5000 word essay to hand in on Monday and it was much more appealing than writing!
and yes, the ending was one of the worst things about it.

Sweeney Todd has one of those awful trailers that crams the whole movie into 60 seconds, by the looks of it they have completely desecrated the
original story and pretty much made up their own.

hello! i love stranger than fiction! but im not sure how good it really is...my best friend didnt quite see th greatness of it when i made him watch
it. not sure why, he likes all th other films i like!
oh god i dont think anyones family could be so dysfunctional like in little miss sunshine, no. surely they can't?!
juno, i'm not too sure about. i don't think i'll go see it, from what i've seen it doesn't grab me...but i could be mistaken!
but im hoping that dan in real like is a good film, as steve carrell is in it. but so far it hasn't grabbed me either...looks a bit rubbish to be
honest. hope i'm wrong

Juno has Jason Bateman and Micheal Cera in it. It will therefore be brilliant.
Stranger than fiction is good, however it's so high concept that the ending can't help but be a let down.

Well, I saw I'm Not There last night. It starts off a bit irritatingly, a bit too smart arse but either it settles down after a while or I just
got used to it and accepted it. Cate Blanchett is brilliant as Quinn, certainly my favourite performance. Richard Gere I found to be a bit pointless,
his performance didn't do anything for me. Heath Ledger, Christian Bale et al are all good. It's much better than a straight biopic would
be, having different actors represent different facets of Dylan works really well. Well worth seeing, for sure.

I was dragged to see I am Legend and I can confirm that it is utter gash.
Jailing him, Judge Alistair McCallum told Hoyle "Never before in my time at the bar or on the bench have I ever had to deal with somebody who
voluntarily allowed himself to be buggered by a dog on the public highway. Frankly it is beyond most of our comprehension. It is an absolutely
disgusting thing for members of the public to have to witness."

I watched 'Old Joy' recently. Think it's kind of new, really liked it. On a similar tip to "The Straight Story"... nice and
laid back, bit of an emotional thing going on, lots of unspoken communication etc etc.
Oh, and I watched the Zeitgeist yesterday (watch it for free on google).
If you're already on a conspiracy theory kind of thing then it's good (read, horrifying) to see how deep the lies go. And if you're not
the evidence is generally anecdotal and unreferenced so there are plenty of holes to poke and I can't see it changing your inner political
prototype any time soon.
Oh, and if you want to laugh at Christians there are few good reasons to as well.

Seeing I Am Legend tonight. The trailer looks good but everyone seems to dislike it. Supposedly the original book ending didn't work well on
screen.
Apparently it was originally going to be filmed at the same time as 28 Days Later but they feared people would think they were copying.

No Country For Old Men was absolutely brilliant, a perfect film. Many people will hate the ending, and I was unsure about it at first, but after
thinking about it, it makes perfect sense regarding the theme of the film and any other ending would de-value it.
Oh, Sweeny Todd looks awful. Tim Burton needs to stop making films, same psuedo-gothic shit everytime with his wife in. Even if he tries something
different, we end up with something like 'Planet of the apes'
